Deep Roots for
a Strong Faith

For generations, our church has been a place of hope, worship, and faithful teaching centered on Jesus Christ.  We’re glad you’re here and invite you to join us in person or get to know us online.

Christ Alone, Scripture Alone

First Baptist Church has deep roots in our community and, more importantly, in the Christian faith. Starting in 1836 as a church plant, after 30 years of meeting for worship and fellowship with no building of its own, First Baptist Church was able to construct its first building on the corner of Church and Vesper Streets in 1867, where it has remained since.

With close to 200 years of history, First Baptist Church has been through multiple periods of growth and decline, but through it all, it has always proclaimed the good news of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and it has always held to and taught God’s Word. This two-fold commitment provides the deep roots for a strong faith among its members.
